5 homers not enough for Cowgirls at Dilley

Shelby Gayre featured in recent publications, Shelby is a 2017 commit to Kansas and plays for the 18U Vision Fastpitch Gold team coached by Martin & Kim Poole.  Shelby had three home runs and five RBI's on her way to being named D'Hanis High School Female Athlete of the Week.
Dilley -- The D’Hanis Cowgirls had five home runs Tuesday, Feb. 21, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Dilley.
part0The Lady Wolves outgunned the Cowgirls, 13-11, to open the 2017 softball season for both teams.
The 3rd Annual Cowgirl Classic begins Thursday, Feb. 23, and lasts through Saturday, Feb. 25 in D’Hanis. The Cowgirls will play their three pool games on Friday, with finals on Saturday. On Tuesday, Feb. 28, they’ll host the Uvalde JV in a 5 p.m. match.
D’Hanis got three home runs from future Kansas Jayhawk Shelby Gayre, totalling five RBI, along with two solo blasts from Haley Steubing.
Dilley, however, plated four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, then held the Cowgirls scoreless – for the only time on Tuesday – in the top of the seventh.
